The Japanese Society of Oral Implantology (JSOI) is one of the specialized organization of the Japanese Association for Dental Science. The objectives of JSOI are the promotion and dissemination of knowledge about implant dentistry, the development of dental science and the contribution to the health of the public, through innovative research and its clinical application, exchange and networking of knowledge, supply of updated and well-documented information and life-long learning of members. Our membership is composed of dentists who belong to universities, private offices and hospitals, dental hygienists, and dental technicians. The current membership is approximately 15,200 as of end-of-April 2018.

Implant therapy requires clinical knowledge that includes prosthodontics, oral surgery, periodontics, dental anesthesiology, and oral and maxillofacial radiology as well as comprehensive academic knowledge including fundamental medicine such as material science, anatomy and pathology. Dental implant treatment is beneficial for functional, esthetic and psychological rehabilitation in cases of edentulous patients with or without bone deficit, and patient needs are also increasing. We make academic exchange with the German Association of Oral Implantology and the Thai Association of Dental Implantology, and publish International Journal of Implant Dentistry (IJID) .
