Japanese Society of Dentistry for Medically Compromised Patient

With a rise in the ratio of patients with an underlying medical condition that necessitates additional considerations concerning the entire body in daily dental practice (generally called "medically compromised patients") that is accompanying medical advances and cultural developments, and "under the goal of disseminating training in medical knowledge that can be implemented at practicing dental clinics and whole-body management with direct linkage clinically," we launched an academic society establishment preparation committee in September 26, 1990. In April 27, 1991, we officially launched as an academic society (First Director: the late Noboru Sonoyama, Honorary Professor, The Nippon Dental University Professor Emeritus). Then, across the two days of February 29 and March 1 of 1992, the first Japanese Society of Dentistry for Medically Compromised Patient academic symposium and general assembly (the Nippon Dental University) was held. To date, annual academic symposium and general assembly events have been held every year without lapse.
